Abstract:
This paper explores the use of mathematical tools in solving physical problems related to elastic waves. The parameters of seismic waves generated by earthquakes are described. Surface seismic waves – Rayleigh waves and Love waves – are considered. The average frequency and average velocity of these waves are estimated, as well as the distance between the recorder and the earthquake epicenter. The Mach cone, which occurs when a sound source moves at a speed exceeding the speed of sound, is examined
