COMPUTERIZING TECNOLOGIES OF EDUCATION IN GENERAL PHYSICS COURSE A.I. Lukovnikov Moscow State of Physics Engineering Institute General Physics Department Laboratory of computerizing education Some different directions of computers applications in general physics education are described. Review of most developed home-made computer teaching programs is presented. Characteristics of AIST integrated programs package and ELZA electronic book of problems developed in MEPhI are discussed.
EDUCATIONAL COMPUTER COURSE "PHYSICS ON THE COMPUTER" AT MOSCOW INSTITUTE OF PHYSICS AND TECHNOLOGY S.M. Kozel, N.N. Soboleva Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology In resent years Computer Based Learning of General Physics have been widely used at MIPT. Computers are used for visual illustration of physical concepts and phenomena, simulation of physical process, solution of physical problems, etc. Computers are also applied in physical laboratories while students carry out experiments, during seminars, individual studies and lectures. In this article the experience of authors how to use the course "Physics on the Computer" at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology is discussed. POSSIBILITIES FOR COMPUTER ASSISTED LEARNING IN PHYSICS Hans Laue Departament of Physics and Astronomy The University of Calgary Calgary, Alberta, Canada A brief history of computer assisted learning in physics is presented that links the kinds of software that have been developed to past stages of technological development. It is pointed out that technology has been moving to a new level during the last two years that makes further developments in computer assisted learning possible and desirable. As an example of the kind of physics software that is available at present, the CALiPH computer tutorial system in first-year university physics is described.
COMPUTER MODELING IN TEACHING OF PHYSICS E.I. Butikov St.-Petersburg University In the article two complexes of the educational simulating computer programs CLASSICAL DYNAMICS and PHYSICS of OSCILLATIONS are described, which represent not simply electronic addition to the traditional textbook, but in essence a sort of a desktop laboratory for the individual interactive work of the student with mathematical model of a physical phenomenon. The work with the simulation programs is similar to a small scientific research in some respects. In this work a student will play an active role. EXPERIENCE OF PHYSICS DEPARTMENT OF THE I.M.GUBKIN STATE ACADEMY OF OIL AND GAS IN THE USE OF COMPUTER FOR MODELING OF PHYSICAL PROCESSES V.B. Nagaev, L.G. Lyubutina, A.A. Dozorov I.M. Gubkin State Ascademy of Oil and Gas In this paper an experience of the COMPUTER use in an educational process is presented, beginning from the supervising trainee programs, carrying out a rigid-determined training, and up to the simulating trainee programs, in which the didactic opportunities of the computer are realized as much as possible. The most effective ones appear to be the trainees programs, which combine directory and supervising functions with an opportunity to simulate the various phenomena and objects and to study them under a change of its own parameters.
THE COMPUTER SIMULATION EXPERIMENTS IN PHYSICS EDUCATION V.V. Krasavin, Yu.A. Zaytsev Kovrov Technological Institute Faculty of Physics In present article a software package of computer simulations of classical experiments on a course of physics is represented. The experiments by Brown, Millikan, Perrin, Rutherford and others are described. Mathematical models of these simulations of experiments is adequate to real processes, occurring in the experiments.
CD-ROM IN PHYSICS. REALITY AND PERSPECTIVE A.V. Polenov, V.P. Sedyakin, Yu.S. Pesotsky Russian Research-and-Production Association "ROSUCHPRIBOR" The CD-ROM technology in physics described in this article relates to research at RRPA "Rosuchpribor" in PC applications in lectures and laboratories. Some examples of such applications are shown and some problems in the field of development CD-ROM for physics education are described.
PERSONAL COMPUTER TRAINEE-RESEARCH WORK BASED ON A SYMBOLICAL CALCULATION PACKAGE "MATHEMATICA" FOR STUDENTS- PHYSICISTS A.M. Basharov Moscow Institute of Physics Engineering (Technical University) The course of a trainee-research work on a computer for students (TRW on the COMPUTER) on the faculty of Solid State Physics is described. The characteristics of three base problems is given. On the basis about three tens of exercises are formulated which have been offered to the students in the autumn semester of the 1995/96 educational year. Detailed examples of the formulation of the task, statement and decision of an allocated subtask on the nonlinear optics of a thin film of resonant atoms are described. Some results of such a TRW on the COMPUTER are analyzed. In a supplement some comments to the "MATHEMATICA" program are given.
ON THE EXPERIENCE IN COMPUTER MODELING TEACHING S.N. Kolgatin St.-Petersburg State Technical University Faculty of the Experimental Physics In the last two decades the mathematical modeling by its volume and importance became quite balanced with the theory and usual (so-called "natural") experimental works. Therefore, studying the theory within the framework of lectures and exercises, and experimental methods - in the laboratory, it would be logical to include into the program an acquainting with numerical modeling. Techniques of computer modeling teaching in physics based on experience of the author are described.
LABORATORY AT THE COURSE "THEORY OF NEURAL NETWORKS " B.N. Onykiy, O.A. Mishulina, I.B. Shcherbakov Moscow Institute of Physics Engineering (Technical University) Faculty of "Cybernetics" Program "NNLab" - a laboratory at the course "Theory of neural networks " - is presented. The main functional opportunities of the program and laboratory works on its basis are described. The program is intended for formation, training and imitation of functioning of the multiple layered neural networks. These networks are investigated theoretically at most. The effective hardware realizations of the multiple layered neural networks are existed. As a result of the laboratory tasks fulfillment the students get skills of work with the programs of modeling of the neural networks as well as master an order of data preparation for the specialized neural computers.
MATHEMATICAL MODELING OF DYNAMICAL PROCESSES STUDY G.N. Aleksakov Moscow Institute of Physics Engineering (Technical University) A personal analog computer AVK-6 is described which is used by many educational institutions to study physics, electrical engineering, electronics, automatics, robototechnics and other general educational as well as special disciplines. A certain concept of computerization is realized. Efficiency of an application of this tool in educational process depends on the technology of this methods use.
INFORMATION TECHNIQUE OF MATHEMATICAL MODEL CONSTRUCTION OF DYNAMIC OB JECT BY EXPERIMENTAL DATA M.V. Markovsky, V.D. Tchalii Moscow of Physics Engineering Institute (Technical University) The authors offer the creation of a new technology of processing of experimental results for objects and processes which behavior is described by linear and nonlinear differential equations or their systems. On tentative estimations the application of this technique lets to fulfill mathematical modeling of dynamic objects or processes with an error 0,1-1 % at reduction of received experimental date volume by 10-100 times. The offered technique of construction of dynamic objects models and phenomena allows its usage in various areas of science and engineering: on physical objects and installations, in technological processes, power machinery, ecology, metallurgy, space technique, medicine, chemical technology, economy and so on.
Edo Nyland University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada This is the start of an excursion into the World Wide Web for those who have little or no experience with network computing.
